The 54 soldiers who were sentenced to death for mutiny by a military court in Abuja,Nigeria, on Wednesday, December 17, are reportedly being starved of food and basic care. The soldiers, who were transferred from Abuja to Lagos on Sunday, December 21, are said to be shackled, serially by their legs and crammed in two cells that have neither beds nor food or any form of care.
The first cell holds 30 soldiers while the second is underground and contains 24 soldiers. There are no beds or mattresses. The soldiers have not been fed since Sunday. The unfortunate soldiers have been in this condition since they arrived Lagos on Sunday, December 21 till Wednesday, December 24 but no one knows if their conditions have improved since.
